The Atomic Destabilizer[1] is a modification to the Particle Thrower designed to convert solid matter into its ethereal counterpart.[2]

History

After the Ghostbusters rescued the Junior Ghostbusters from the Boogieman, Egon Spengler got an idea on how to defeat him. From his laboratory on the third floor of the Firehouse, Egon modified his Proton Pack's Particle Thrower into an Atomic Destabilizer. With it, the Ghostbusters could turn the Boogieman into a ghost long enough for them to trap him like any other standard spook. Egon later used it with success and the Boogieman was trapped.
